September 8th and 9th

2017  Verde Valley Forum for Public Affairs

Our 2017 Verde Valley Forum entitled Strengthening Pre-K-12 Education in the Verde Valley Region will be held on September 8th -9th at the Beaver Creek School in Rimrock, AZ.

Participants and staff may arrive early (4 pm) for an optional tour of the historic, quaint stone Beaver Creek School built in 1938,  and preserved on the site of the current campus.

A school cafeteria style dinner will be served at 5:30 pm followed by our keynote speaker, Dr. Lattie Coor, Chairman and CEO of the Center for the Future of Arizona.  Dr. Coor is a compelling and informative speaker who graciously spoke at last year's Forum pertaining to the future of secondary education in the Verde Valley region which provided an excellent jump start to a very successful event.

At 7:30 pm, for those who are interested in star gazing, there will be telescopes set up in the outdoor circular patio of Beaver Creek School for your viewing pleasure and entertainment courtesy of the Astronomers of the Verde Valley.  Their members will be present to guide, direct you and answer questions about night skies over the Verde.

We will reconvene early on Saturday  morning  (7 am) for a continental breakfast followed by a Panel Discussion with the Education Leaders of the Verde Valley.  The panel will consist of six local public school superintendents and a past principal of a local private parochial school. This interesting and informative prelude to the day's break out sessions will be moderated by Mark Joraanstad, Executive Director, Arizona School Administrators Association.

At 8:30 am, participants will break out into their small groups to begin tackling the days topics broken down into four segments and time slots as follows:
